When I started illustrating the Lost Key, I started thinking the city may have trains and stuff. But I've been struggling to see how that can fit into the story. In fact I'm currently stuck, and need to feed the muse with something. But the idea of creating an illustration with a train has stuck with me, so here it is!
As for the story, as I've said, gotta feed the muse. I know many artists have their own way of doing it. For me, I read, go sun gazing, hiking, conversing etc, and eventually the muse acquiesces to my toil, and shows me the way.
In the meantime, await more random paintings. This was done in Clip Studio Paint. I did some 3D modeling in Blender as well, to set up the train. This is a contractor, probably taking level measurements for a new development project. I experimented with cleaner, solid lines on this. Not sure I got the aesthetic I'm aiming to achieve with my art going forward. But that is the fun of exploration, isn't it now? 😉
